Risk averse state shies away from lottery giant Sazka

The fingerprints of the state are all over the country’s biggest lottery company, Sazka, and the debt-ridden company might now appear to be the perfect vehicle to be transformed into a state-run gaming company on the model of other European countries. But politically and economically, this appears a long bet in the current Czech environment.

FinMin withdraws Sazka lottery license

Debt-burdened nationwide lottery operator Sazka faces even further woes with the Ministry of Finance temporarily suspending its lottery license for failing to make previous pay-outs to winners.

Synot Typ joins rush into Czech lottery market

Czech betting company Synot Typ has been cleared to launch its own lottery, joining the surge of companies crowding into the market until recently dominated by debt-burdened state lottery operator Sazka. Synot expects to launch its offer in September.
