Prague metro line A may get smaller ‘park and ride’

The deputy Prague mayor in charge of transportation issues has said the cash-strapped Czech capital may construct a more modest “park and ride” lot at the midpoint on metro line A between the current and future terminuses, the news server Novinky.cz reports.

Prague mayor under fire for appointment of transport boss

Prague mayor's decision to ditch a tender for a headhunting company and directly appoint a new head of the city's wholly owned public transport company has been attacked by one of the unions representing DPP company staff. They accuse Bohuslav Svoboda of breaking his word and demand he holds a competitive tender for the post of DPP general manager although he had already named the company's new head.

Prague transport firm massively overpaid for TV screens, related criminal complaint dismissed

Managers of the city-owned Prague Transport Company (DDP) — under investigation due to alleged corruption in the awarding of contracts and terms thereof — concluded a remarkably disadvantageous contract in 2006 to buy new LCD televisions via the firm Xanthus, to which acting DPP chief Jaroslav Stůj has links, Czech Position has learned; Stůj has since been recalled from the post by the DPP supervisory board.
