Since the reintroduction of capitalism, Santa Claus has become highly visible in the Czech Republic at this time of year, frequently appearing in store displays, ads, and seasonal TV schedules. But some Czechs are now saying a firm ‘no thanks’ to this Western import – and calling for the preservation of their nation’s own rich Christmas traditions.
