While star guests like actors Judi Dench and John Turturro will light up the red carpet at the 46^th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival — which starts rolling in the West Bohemian spa town on Friday evening — organizers say much of the focus this year will be on first-time directors. In fact, 54 of the nearly 180 feature-length movies being screened over the nine days of the Czech film festival are debuts.
