Czech investment incentives target hi-tech firms

The Czech Republic is almost constantly battling against its CEE neighbors to attract large foreign investors for whom government incentives such as tax breaks can be decisive when choosing a location for an investment venture. In given the current economic climate and downturn in investments less-developed regions especially would benefit from large inflows of investment capital, writes Jindra Předotová, a consultant at Deloitte Advisory.

Czech auto sector enjoys booming 2011

Czech vehicle production looks like setting a record for 2011 with the industry association predicting a more than 9.0 percent incrase in output compared with 2010. The surge has been led by the country's biggest car producer Škoda Auto which is certain to set a record production figure for the year.

‘Czech Dream’ team tackles cars, kimchi in ‘Nošovice!’

Vít Klusák’s new documentary follows the impact of the construction of a Hyundai Motor Company plant in Nošovice. “All for the Good of the World and Nošovice!” is not just about a former cabbage field that now yields cars, it is also the first Czech documentary to criticize an international corporation. The film looks into the tactics used to get the land before the plant was built, and the working conditions there now. And, of course, there is the famous Nošovice sauerkraut.
