Czech economic confidence down in May

Economic confidence among firms and consumers continued to slip in May after already falling in April with few exceptions to the spreading gloom about the outlook.

Czech business confidence slips back in April

Declining confidence among manufacturers and those in import-export outweighed slight rises in the construction, services sectors and among consumers with the composite confidence indicator falling for the first time since December.

Czech economic confidence climbs in February

Confidence in the Czech economy has risen f0r the second  month in a row, largely thanks to industrial and service companies, the latest monthly index compiled by the Czech Statistical Office suggests. Consumer confidence, however,  fell back even though unemployment fears appear to be easing.

Czech economic confidence rebounds in January

After sinking to a near two-year-low in December, Czech economic confidence recovered slightly in January according to the Czech Statistical Office’s monthly survey. Most sectors of industry — and consumers — are a bit brighter about the outlook, though the hard-hit construction sector still sees no light at the end of the tunnel.

Czech economic confidence eases in September

Czech consumer and business confidence took a hit in September with both more despondent about their economic situation and outlook. In the business sphere, there was a surpsingly sharp upturn in confidence in the hard-hit building sector while gloom deepened in manufacturing and trade companies.

Eurostat: Czechs shop longest

Czechs tied with Romanians for the most time in Europe spent shopping per week, according to a Eurobarometer report on consumer empowerment released on April 11. On average consumers in the Czech Republic and Romania spend most time shopping (3.8 hours per week). The average time spent shopping per week is also relatively high in Bulgaria, Austria and the UK (3.7 hours each), Eurobarometer said in a report.

Czech shoppers lead CEE in e-commerce

The Czech Republic has the highest level of online shoppers among Internet users in the CEE region, and the range of products they click to buy is expanding. Electronics ranked among the most popular items but fast-moving consumer goods (FMCGs) are catching on. One drawback is that some people still like to see what they are getting first.
