A 19-year-old woman who on Wednesday evening fell off a pleasure boat that was cruising the Vltava River in Prague has died of injuries sustained when she was sucked into the vessel’s propeller, the Czech state news agency ČTK reports.

The accident occurred near the Barrandov Bridge. “Detectives are investigating the case on suspicion of death due to negligence,” police spokesperson Andrea Zoulová was quoted as saying, adding that the unidentified woman had been riding in an eight-seat boat.

Zoulová declined to say how many people were on the boat at the time or provide other details until the police investigation has concluded.

The teenage girl had arrived at Motol Hospital alive but in critical condition. Her nationality has not yet been made public, but river cruises are especially popular with foreign tourists.
