Men’s world tennis number one says charged program makes Prague appearance uncertain

While the event looks like being a sell-out success, the participation of the leading star is still uncertain.

That’s the situation surrounding the Czech Republic’s Davis Cup tennis tie against Serbia on April 6-8 with the top draw for the Prague event, world men’s number one Novak Djokovic still uncertain to make an appearance.

The Serbian has done nothing to ease worries that he might not make it to Prague, telling reporters at the ongoing tournament at Indian Wells, California, that he had not yet decided. “I am concentrating for the moment on this tournament and the next one in Miami. We’ll see how I feel. I don’t want to make any predictions,” Djokovic was reported to have commented. The Davis Cup tie does not appear on the upcoming fixtures on his personal web page.

While he normally enjoyed playing for his country, Djokovic added that he had such a charged program at the start of the year that it was difficult to fit everything in.

The Czech Republic and their top Davis Cup players Tomáš Berdych and Radek Štěpánek  are playing for a semifinal place in the world’s main team tennis tournament. Last time the two countries met in 2010, Djokovic helped his country turnaround a 1:2 deficit and go on to win the tie. Serbia went on to take the Davis Cup title that year.

Djokovic currently continues in his blistering form from last year. He won his quarter-final match against Spaniard Nicolas Almago, who in the previous round defeated Czech number one Berdych, 6:3, 6:4 on Thursday to go into the last four of the Indian Wells tournament.
