Czech church and state seal historic restitution deal

The Czech state and churches have agreed on final terms of a controversial restitution deal aimed at ending decades-long dispute

Culture Minister Jiří Besser has announced agreement on the final outstanding chapter of an historic restitution deal between the state and churches and religious groups. The agreement seeks to draw a line under arguments over compensation for property and assets confiscated by the Communist regime. Approval from parliament is still needed though with many lawmakers grumbling about the size and terms of the deal.
