Czech Jazz Contest gets young blood pumping in battle of bands

Thanks to a line-up of fresh faces, new management at Prague’s famous club Reduta, this jazz contest is a departure from staid fare

It’s a classic battle of the bands, with 16 groups slugging it out over the next month to determine which of them is the hottest young jazz group in the Czech Republic and Slovakia – and take away the proverbial mother lode of prizes. The Czech Jazz Contest is also departure from the normally genteel world of sophisticated standards but staid fare typically offered at Reduta.
