Andrej Zaťko joins the board at J&T Banka

Andrej Zaťko, the head of private banking at J&T Banka for the Czech Republic and Slovakia, was named a new member of board of directors of the financial group as of April 4. J&T’s board will now have a five-member composition; in addition to Zaťko, it includes Patrik Tkáč, Igor Kováč, Josef Spišiak and Štěpán Ašer.

ING bank makes change in key position

Karel Růžička has been appointed financial director for ING Bank, effective April 1. He replaces Luboš Jančošek. Růžička has held various positions at ING since 1994. Prior to his new post, he was head of sales to financial institutions. Before that, he was in other positions in financial markets and in trading of financial instruments.

TVO makes appointments to executive board

TVO Property Services appointed two new members to the executive board.  Michal Kratochvíl  has led the finance and accounting departments. Lukáš Brandejs is in charge of credit control and debt collection on behalf of TVO’s property owner clients and negotiates terms and conditions for the property owner’s tenants.

White & Case completes CEE expansion

Law firm White & Case is adding five lawyers to its Prague office. Both founding partners of law firm Horák & Chvosta, Luděk Chvosta and Jiří Horák, plus three senior lawyers from the firm — Barbora Rovenská, David Padyšák and David Ilczyszyn — will help to strengthen White & Case’s advisory expertise in litigation and corporate law. The move will complete strengthening of this practice at all White & Case offices across Central and Eastern Europe, the law firm said in a press release.

US law firm recruits Czech partners

The Prague branch of the US law firm DLA Piper announced  appointments of two partners to enlarge its local team — Pavel Marc and Jakub Adam. Both Czech lawyers previously worked for the Czech office of the Austrian law firm Wolf Theiss. Marc and Adam practice corporate, finance, energy, mergers and acquistions, and real estate law. DLA Piper will also start to offer legal services in German.

Axa investiční společnosti has new board chairman

Hani Himmat became the new chairman of the board of directors of Axa investiční společnost and chief investment officer of insurance group Axa in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He takes over from Kamila Horáčková, who became head of asset management at AXA Winterthur in Switzerland.

Goodman names new development manager

Logistics and business property developer Goodman Group appointed Jakub Pelikán as development manager for the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He will be based at Goodman’s new offices in Prague and will be responsible for expanding Goodman’s presence in Czech Republic and Slovakia.

New managing director, investment head at Colliers

Colliers International appointed Omar Sattar as managing director of the Czech office, effective from April 2011. Current managing director Karel Stransky is taking the newly created post of international director of CEE industrial agency. Colliers also named Christopher Sheils as head of investment services in the Czech office as of April 2011.  He is taking over from Radek Cerha, who will pursue opportunities outside of Colliers.

AVG Technologies appoints new vice president

Czech-based anti-virus software developer AVG Technologies appointed Ricardo Adame as corporate vice president of global public relations. Adame has 20 years’ experience in corporate communications, public affairs and corporate social responsibility. Adame will be responsible for developing and executing AVG’s strategic communications agenda.  Based in Prague, he will oversee AVG’s global public relations initiatives.

Opencard’s Blažek heading to MoD

Rudolf Blažek (ODS) was named deputy minister of defense and will be director of the section responsible for military procurement and equipment purchases. Blažek served as deputy mayor of Prague from 2002–10 and oversaw the Opencard project, which was heavily criticized for mismanagement.
