Czech President Václav Klaus bought himself a diamond watch with a crocodile skin strap for his 70th birthday, the president of the company Diamonds Corporation International, Luboš Říha, announced in a press release on Tuesday. Klaus reportedly had difficulties understanding the watch’s functions, but the president of the company, Luboš Říha, willingly rushed to his side to assist.

Klaus paid Kč 110,000 for the limited edition watch with a crocodile skin strap made by the Czech diamond trading and jeweler Diamonds Corporation International, the server aktualne.cz reported on Tuesday, citing a press release issued by Říha, who helped Klaus when he had trouble setting certain parameters and functions on his new watch.

“I was at a private dinner and had just ordered sea bass when my mobile rang and an acquaintance of the president asked me for SOS help,” Říha told aktualne.cz. “I was informed that Mr. Klaus had acquired one of our diamond watches, but that he didn’t know how to set all of the complicated functions. Therefore, I headed to the Vltava [river which runs through Prague].”

The case of the Klaus’ new watch is made from stainless steel, and the face is gray and bejeweled with six diamonds. The hands and logo are made from gold.

Founded in 2005, Diamonds Corporation International is Czech owned and managed.
